FAQs
What is the IIBA?
The IIBA is the International Institute of Business Analysis. It is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and has chapters around the world in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, and Asia. Its mission is to develop and maintain standards for the practice of business analysis and for the certification of its practitioners. The website is www.iiba.org.
Are there local chapters in Minnesota?
Yes. The Minneapolis | St Paul chapter is the only chapter of the IIBA currently in Minnesota. The chapter serves business analysts primarily in the Twin Cities metro area; however, active chapter members represent all areas of the State.
How do I become a member of IIBA?
See our membership page on how to become a member.
When are the chapter meetings held?
Chapter meetings are generally held on the second Thursday of the month except May when there is no Chapter meeting because of professional development days. Since March of 2020, many of our meetings are virtual, hosted on the Zoom platform. Evening meetings: check-in and socializing begins at 6:15PM and the meeting starts at 6:30 PM. Luncheon meetings: check-in and socializing begins at 11:15AM and the meeting starts at 11:30AM. We are looking to host more in-person meetings. Please check the website for the most current information on scheduled meetings.
How much does it cost to attend a meeting?
If you are a member of IIBA Global, you have the option of joining any affiliated chapter, which is included in the annual membership fee. As a member of global IIBA, attending chapter meetings is free. If you are not a member of the local chapter, the cost is $25 per meeting for in-person and $10 for virtual meetings.
Are food and drinks available at chapter meetings?
For in-person meetings, we offer a limited selection of food and beverages. Food selection is usually limited to finger food and/or dessert items. Beverages are often limited to water, coffee and tea. Many in-person meetings occur in places like hotels with restaurants and bars where you can purchase food and beverages before and after the meeting.
How do I sign up for a chapter meeting?
Please register for chapter meetings through the chapter’s website – msp.iiba.org. For planning purposes, registrations should be submitted before noon the day before the meeting date.
